Dr Bashir Ahmad Khan

Taught banking and finance at LUMS for 18 years; Associate Dean of Executive Education at LUMS;  published in books and journals abroad in the areas of financial liberalization, deregulation, and financial markets; edited a series of books on managing NGOs in developing countries; consulted for a number of Pakistani organizations; served on the Boards of Askari Investment Management Ltd and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan; currently on the Board of Askari Bank Ltd; Commonwealth Staff Scholar at Oxford University (1990-92); Charles Wallace Trust Fellow (2003), sponsored by the British Council.

Wasif M Khan
Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management Control
MPPM Yale University School of Management, USA; MSME Oregon State University, USA
Pioneered teaching of both Entrepreneurship and Management Control Systems in Pakistan in 1987; authored over 25 business cases in these areas; extensive management consulting experience with top Pakistani groups as well as high growth family firms on a wide variety of control, governance, and strategy issues; research in the management control and family firm development areas has been published in several refereed journals and conference proceedings in Europe and the USA; has been a Board Director at leading Pakistani corporate firms; corporate engineering and business development experience in Fortune 200 firms in the USA from 1979-1987. Institutional level policy development experience as founding faculty of the Graduate School of Business, LUMS.
Research Interests: The Interplay of Theory and Practice in Growing Firms Operating in a Low-Trust Context; currently working on developing cost and control systems for one of Pakistan’s largest textile groups.

Principal Consultant, EMR Consult, Lahore; involved in Energy Projects e.g. Thar Coal and development of the mining sector of Pakistan; executive member of Concerned Citizens of Pakistan (CCP), a pressure group involved in public welfare causes and rule of law; founder member of Pakistan Professionals Institute (PPI); research interests are in collaborative development, technology transfer, operations and project management, and re-engineering; has over twenty publications, and holds four US patents.

Appointed Charles Walgreen Fellow at University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business; joined Economics faculty at Southern Methodist University; in 1978 embarked on a career in business, serving as an Executive for over 20 years at AT&T, Qwest and, most recently, as the President and CEO of Wytec, Inc.; published several papers in areas of market regulation and price controls; member FCC Boards of Directors and Governors.
Research Interests: Industrial Organization, Economics of the Firm, and Government and Industry.

Worked with KPMG in UK and PWC in Saudi Arabia; taught at LUMS; co-authored  book published by Westview Press  in USA, Public Enterprises in Pakistan: The Hidden Crises in Economic Development; management and research analysis consultant for many Pakistani companies; ran own company for 23 years; implemented various accounting systems for clients; represented software companies: SBT Accounting Systems and SAGE as  a reseller of ERP systems in Pakistan; active case writer, with publications at the University of Western Ontario.
