Forman Christian College (A Chartered University), in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, concluded a significant training session on April 26, 2024. This three-day session marked the commencement of the Progress Review Meeting and Consultative Workshop on Pakistan’s Precept, Standards, and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PSG-2023).

The training session, the third in a series planned across Pakistan in various higher education institutions in all four regions of the country, aimed to strengthen quality assurance mechanisms within the Pakistani higher education sector.

The inaugural workshop for the Punjab region brought together 32 Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) of universities and notable educational leaders to discuss and strategize the implementation of the PSG-2023 framework. Prominent attendees included Dr. Jonathan S. Addleton, Rector FCCU; Dr. Nayer Fardows, Registrar FCCU; and Mr. Nasir Shah, Director-General Quality Assurance at HEC Islamabad.

Dr. Addleton opened the session with a warm welcome and emphasized FCCU’s commitment to fostering a culture of quality that impacts every facet of the institution. During the workshop, Mr. Nasir Shah highlighted the critical importance of the PSG-2023 standards in elevating the quality and accountability of educational practices nationally and internationally. “The PSG-2023 framework is pivotal for not only enhancing educational outcomes but also for maintaining the credibility and operational excellence of higher education institutions across the globe,” stated Mr. Shah.

The sessions aimed at engaging educational stakeholders in meaningful discussions to ensure the effective implementation of quality standards in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and foster a collaborative environment for continuous improvement.

The series will continue across other regions until May 18, 2024, providing an essential platform for stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of the PSG-2023 and effectively contribute towards the advancement of higher education quality and standards in Pakistan.

FCCU is proud to host this initiative in collaboration with HEC, underscoring dedication to leading and shaping the future of higher education in Pakistan. It is hoped that positive changes resulting from these workshops will enhance the educational landscape of the country.
