Major orientation for freshmen and sophomore students was conducted by Dr Sidra Minhas and Mr Sharoon Naseem on 15th February, 2023 in S-009. The event was attended by Dr. Atiq-ur-Rehman, Head of Academic Advising, FCCU. In this gathering the students were informed about the importance of liberal arts education being offered at FCCU. Two students of Computer Science department, Muhammad Tayyab and Aleena Azeem, pitched their project “Waste Ledger” for the NICL, Cohort 11. After rigorous in-person and online interviews, they have been selected to join NICL Cohort 11 through which they will be provided with office space, technical training and other facilities to develop a fully marketable solution for their project. Dept of Computer Science Signs MoU with Deaf Reach Foundation

An MoU was signed between Deaf Reach Foundation and Forman Christian College, Department of Computer Science for continued assistance for the project “Sunno”. “Sunno” is an android application developed to convert Text/Words to their respective Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) lexicon. The PSL data compiled by the Deaf Reach Foundation was used in this project while students of CS department provided the technical skills.

The Department of Environmental Sciences organized a seminar on “Bioremediation for Pollution Cleanup” on January 23rd, 2023, at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University), Lahore. The guest speaker was Dr. Muhammad Farhan (Associate Professor) from the Sustainable Development Study Centre of Government College University, Lahore. Agriculture in Pakistan is significantly affected by short-term climate variability and longer-term climate change. Periods of severe droughts, followed by devastating floods are common in the country and have contributed to low crop yields, loss of livestock, damage to irrigation infrastructure and food shortages. FCCU mourns the passing of former President General Pervez Musharraf

Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) joins with many others in expressing our condolences on the death of former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf after a long illness on Sunday,February 5 in Dubai. Born in Delhi in 1943, General Pervez Musharraf studied mathematics at Forman from 1959 until 1963. After completing his degree, he joined the Pakistan Army as a commissioned officer, contributing to the defense of the country in 1965 and again in 1971. He was awarded the Imtiaz Sanad for gallantry displayed at Chawinda during the 1965. Later he became a commando serving in Pakistan's Special Services Group. [...]
