MPhil Environmental Sciences

The subject of Environmental Science is interdisciplinary in nature, and the program was, therefore, managed by the core faculty with support from allied departments such as Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Physics. Catering to the increased demand by the students for postgraduate qualification, a full-fledged Department of Environmental Sciences was established in the university in 2016. The department has a highly experienced PhD faculty, including foreign faculty from Australia, Portugal and South Korea.

The MPhil Environmental Sciences is a two year evening program consisting of 2 semesters of coursework of 30 credit hours followed by 2 semesters of research of 12 credit hours. To be eligible to undertake the research, a student must achieve a minimum of 2.75 CGPA in the coursework.  Current research themes include research on Life Cycle Assessment, Occupational Health & Safety, Membrane Biological Reactors, Nanotechnology, Carbon Sequestration, Bioremediation, and Climate Change etc. For their research work the students have access to laboratories with equipment like AAS, HPLC, GC-MS, UV-Vis Spectrometer, NMR, Ion Chromatography (IC), CHN Auto Analyzer, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzer etc.
