Department of Buildings and Works

Core Functions of the Department:

The Department is responsible for the construction of new buildings, renovation, refurbishment and additions/alterations to the existing buildings, repair and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure within 136 acres of campus and the maintenance of 01 off campus hostel building. The department also provides services for furniture supply, installation and its repair and maintenance through a well-equipped workshop, space management, project planning, signage, and removals, relocations and event setups. Other responsibilities include the operation of a 24-hourS emergency call out system to attend to plant failure and other emergencies affecting the operational performance of buildings.

  • Maintenance of the University’s physical infrastructure of buildings and engineering services within available resources, to ensure minimum disruption to the university’s core business of teaching and
    research.
  • Upgrading the infrastructure as necessary to compliment the University’s physical development.
  • Provision of a service for the efficient and cost-effective delivery of non-maintenance and minor capital works required by the University.
  • Management of the externally provided utility services to ensure continuity and minimum disruption to the University’s activities.
