MPhil Environmental Sciences

The MPhil Environmental Sciences is a two year evening program consisting of 2 semesters of
coursework of 30 credit hours followed by 2 semesters of research of 12 credit hours. To be eligible to
undertake the research, a student must achieve a minimum of 2.75 CGPA in the coursework. Current
research themes include research on Life Cycle Assessment, Occupational Health & Safety, Membrane
Biological Reactors, Nanotechnology, Carbon Sequestration, Bioremediation, and Climate Change etc.
For their research work the students have access to laboratories with equipment like AAS, HPLC, GC-
MS, UV-Vis Spectrometer, NMR, Ion Chromatography (IC), CHN Auto Analyzer, Total Organic Carbon
(TOC) Analyzer etc.

Admission Criteria
● A 4-year BS (Hons) degree from an HEC recognized University with major in Environmental
Sciences or related fields such as Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Agricultural Sciences,
Forestry, MBBS, BDS, DVM, Pharmacy, or relevant Engineering disciplines with a minimum of
2.5 CGPA and 130 credit hours
OR
● A Conventional MSc in Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology) with a
minimum of 60% marks
NOTE: Acceptance is based upon the 1) departmental test, 2) interview and 3) an overall evaluation of
the candidate, including: academic achievement, statement of purpose and English language
proficiency.
Provisional admission can be sought by students awaiting final results. Their admission will only be
confirmed once they have submitted their complete official Transcript within the due dates.
