Syed Irtiza Shafaat Bokharee

Syed Irtiza Shafaat Bokharee is a Lecturer at the Political Science Department at FCCU. He is simultaneously pursuing a PhD at the Centre for Public Policy and Governance, working on democratic consolidation processes in South Asia, investigating the intersection of political science, history and philosophy. He did his M.Phil from the Political Science department at FCCU and worked on civilian agency, or lack thereof, in post-martial law regimes in Pakistan. He has co-authored a chapter for the Oxford University Press titled “Federalism in Pakistan: Past and Present” with Dr. Muhammad Younis in a volume titled “The Politics of Ethnicity and Federalism in Pakistan.” He is a prolific writer, having written for a decade at The Nation and the Daily Times on various themes such as politics, cultural criticism and music appreciation. His research interests include critical theory, sociology of music, and the history of ideas. He is also an independent musician and music producer.
