DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY

Shahid Rasheed has a diverse range of experiences before joining academia. He did Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, L.L.B from Punjab University, M.Sc Sociology from the University of Oxford. He also remained part of Civil Services Pakistan from 1999-2008. He is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore. He is also working on an alternate education model called Zaawiya Trust School that is based on the principles of holistic education, particularly for the underprivileged children of society. He has also published a book Mohabat, Zameer, Inqelaab in 1998 which comprises some critical reflections in history, psychology, and sociology.

 

Research Interests:

Sociological theory, historical sociology, studies of modernity, Muslim intellectual tradition, and South Asian Studies.
