Brief Profile 

Dr Ghazala Irfan is currently Chairperson and Professor, Department of Philosophy, School of Humanities, Forman Christian College (F.C. College) A Chartered University Lahore, Pakistan. She has been on the faculty since 2011. She was a member of the core faculty LUMS at the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences from 2001 -2011, having been a member of the adjunct faculty from 1994-2001. Prior to that she taught Philosophy at the Masters level at University of the Punjab from 1977- 2001. She taught Philosophy of Education , PhD classes at the Institute of Education and Research (IER) (1997-98),and Critical Thinking and Academic to PhD classes at Department of Management (2015-2018). She conducted postdoctoral research as a Fulbright Scholar in NY, USA (1995-96). She lectured at the Mississippi University for Women Columbus, USA as Fulbright Visiting Specialist, under the Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World (October to November 2006). She has also served as the President Lahore Chapter of the Fulbright Alumni Association (June 2007-February 2011) besides being a life member of the Pakistan National Association of Fulbright Alumni (Pak-NAFA). She was a Committee Member for the Higher Education Commission National Program for the development of Social Sciences and Humanities in Pakistan since February 2003 reconstituted under the chairmanship of Dr. Ishrat Hussain (HEC distinguished national professor) from 2006- 2009; nominated by the Governor of the Punjab as Member Fatima Jinnah Women University Academic Council, Rawalpindi from 2006 to 2009; Vice-President Islamic Philosophical Association from 1982-2018 and president from 2019 onwards. Member Executive Committee PEN Pakistan Center from May 2004-April 2009; Member editorial committee PEN Pakistan Literary Journal from 2007 and Honorary Secretary-Treasurer from 2009-2013; President Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association since 2013, Japanese Foreign Minister Award 2019 for distinguished services to Pakistan Japan relations conferred by Mr. Kuninori Matsuda Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan; Life-member of the Pakistan Philosophical Congress having served as Secretary from 1984-1990 and President from 2012-2015; Rapporteur Afro-Asian Philosophy Association from 1992-1996. Dr Ghazala is a keen exponent of classical music and has been serving as Secretary-General of the All Pakistan Music Conference since 2005, before that she was Joint Secretary
