Dr. Shehzadi Zamurrad Awan

Dr. Shehzadi Zamurrad Awan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science. She has extensive experience of more than 16 years in academics. Dr. Awan's scholarly prowess extends to the publication of numerous research articles and insightful chapters, spanning disciplines such as political science, sociology, and psychology. Her debut book, "Women and Social Change in Pakistan," published by Cambridge Publishing Scholars, marks a recent milestone in her impressive academic journey. Beyond her scholarly accomplishments, she stands as a recipient of various research grants. As a prolific writer, she consistently contributes to English newspapers and magazines, addressing a wide spectrum of socio-political issues, with a special focus on both national and international politics. Notably, her distinctiveness lies in her commitment to nurturing student growth through research and academic endeavors, affording them national and international exposure through engagement in research projects and panels.      2023- AMICAL Consortium Travel Grant Award: Presented a poster on a digital oral history project at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco, held from 24th to 26th May 2023. AMICAL Consortium provided the grant.

     

    2023- Challenging Borders Travel Grant Award: Presented a panel engaging three FCCU students (one MPhil and 2 Baccalaureate) at Challenging Borders International Human Rights Conference at Albion College from April 30 to May 2, 2023. Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) provided the grant.

     

    2023- Punjab Higher Education Commission-PHEC International Travel Grant: presented a paper at the 73rd Annual Conference, "Political Futures," organized by the University of Liverpool, in the UK, from 3rd to 5th April 2023. PHEC provided the grant. 

     

    2022: Digital Oral History Cohort Program: Oral History Student-Teaching Project under Digital Oral History Cohort Program has been accepted by AMICAL Consortium for the Fall 2022 Course. It is successfully completed because of the assistance provided by AMICAL in the shape of training for faculty and students of his course.

     

    2020:  Global Liberal Arts Alliance Institute Transnational Feminisms Travel Grant:  Travel grant was provided by The Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) to present a Panel Proposal at  Global Liberal Arts Alliance Institute Transnational Feminisms to be held, on the campus of The American University of Paris in Paris, France. (The conference was canceled because of covid-19.)

     

     2018: International Christian University-ICU, Tokyo Grant: Presented a paper as a first Social Scientist from Pakistan, invited by International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan to discuss the social and Politics of Pakistan with students on campus at the International Symposium on November 07. The travel grant was provided by ICU Tokyo.

     

    2017 The Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA)-Library of Congress, Faculty-Student Research Initiative Grant: A student-teacher research project was selected for ten days of research at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. between July 17-26. It was funded by GLCA.
