Over 42 years of teaching, research and industrial management experience in various universities in Pakistan, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and pharmaceutical industry; supervised 20 PhD and several MS scholars in the areas of chemistry, chemical engineering and pharmacy. Fellow IUPAC, Fellow Pakistan Institute of Chemists, National Representative IUPAC (USA) – Chemistry & Human Health Division, Member Boards of Studies in Chemistry of several universities in Pakistan. Involved in teaching and research at graduate and post-graduate level. HEC-approved supervisor.

Research interests: Analytical, inorganic, medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry. Currently my group is working on a number of projects including: isolation, modification and pharmaceutical applications of naturally occurring swellable biomaterials; drug delivery systems; design and discovery of metal-based drugs; interaction of metal-based drugs with amino acids, proteins and DNA; in silico synthesis and docking studies, nano-medicine; and mechano-chemical synthesis.

Publications:

About 100 research publications in peer-reviewed international journals with a total impact factor greater than 142, h-index 16 and i10-index 31. Three patents (2 Pak and 1 US) of medicinal products. Reviewer of 20 peer-reviewed journals and served on editorial boards of three international journals.
