Dr Abdul Hameed completed his PhD in Organic Chemistry from The University of Nottingham, UK. He had worked in the area of natural products synthesis. The research project was focused to employ alkylidene carbene insertion reaction to build the key N-bearing quaternary center in an enantioselective way in the natural products such as (-)-Cephalotaxine, (+)-Lactacystin and Kaitocephalin. Then, he worked as post-doc fellow in Max-Planck Institut für Polymerforschung, Mainz, Germany in synthetic division headed by Prof Dr Klaus Müllen. There he worked on the functionalization of adenylyl cyclsase inhibitors via chemical methods to conjugate them with monoclonal antibody to study their biological potential in Regulatory T cells (Treg). He has vast experience in the area of synthetic organic chemistry.

Dr A Hameed has produced more than 70 publications with cumulative impact factor more than 195 in different peer review international and national journals. He has one US Patent (US 9,643,169 B1) to his credit and one is under review process. He has two on-going HEC funded NRPU research projects of worth Rs. 3.6 and 1.6 million rupees as well as Co-PI of two research projects. The NRPU project worth 5.5 Rs million and start up project of Rs. 0.5 million have been completed. The current research interests are including 1) the development of novel methodologies, 2) their utilization in natural products synthesis and 3) the synthesis heterocyclic compound compounds to evaluate their biological potential as well as chemosensing studies for toxic ions include anions/cations.
