Dr Firasat Jabeen, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, recently presented a talk at a workshop at the University of Central Punjab (UCP), Lahore. As a resource person, Dr Jabeen spoke on the topic of Presenting and Publishing your Research for doctoral students and young faculty members at the School of Media and Communication Studies of UCP. The workshop introduced leading and prestigious conference presentation forums of media and communication to the doctoral students. The purpose of the workshop was to help doctoral candidates identify opportunities of conference presentations for their ongoing research projects and getting constructive feedback from scholarly community.
In addition, this workshop also focused on the idea of publishing research—doctoral dissertation—during or after PhD. The focus was on the idea of extracting paper(s) from doctoral dissertation, and getting it published internationally, i.e., Routledge, Sage, Palgrave, and University press. The overall objective of this workshop was to cultivate understanding, knowledge, and appreciation of presentation and publication of research.
Dr Jabeen has recently joined the Mass Communication department after finishing her Fulbright supported Ph.D. from the United States. Her recent publication is based on a paper from her Ph.D. dissertation and is published with Routledge in the Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development https://doi.org/10.1080/01434632.2019.1653303.
