3rd and 4th semester digital logic design course students went out to perform community service to learn beyond the classroom. The purpose of this activity was to enrich them with the problems of their society and see how technology can help in eliminating them. The aim of this community work was to see how smog, its causes and its effects can be reduced by a combined effort.

Students of FCCU, Department of Computer Science Hazrat, Awais, Hamza and Hassaan displayed their senior project at the annual all Pakistan Computer Projects Exhibition and Competition, COMPPEC, 2023 held at E&ME College, NUST. After competing with 85+ highly sophisticated projects, our team bagged the 2nd Runner Up position and won a cash prize of Rs 10,000 in the software applications category. In their project under supervision of Dr Sidra Minhas & Dr Haroon Shakeel, they developed an android mobile application for two-way communication with the deaf community paving the way for an inclusive society.

The Department of Computer Science in collaboration with ORIC organized the Computer Science Senior Project Exhibition (COMSPEX) for senior projects on Tuesday, 14th February 2023. The best project award with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 was awarded to “Electric Ledger” conducted by Mr. Muhammad Tayyab, Mr. Muzafar Arshad and Mr. Chand Saleem under the supervision of Ms. Samia Asloob. Dept of Computer Science Signs MoU with Deaf Reach Foundation

An MoU was signed between Deaf Reach Foundation and Forman Christian College, Department of Computer Science for continued assistance for the project “Sunno”. “Sunno” is an android application developed to convert Text/Words to their respective Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) lexicon. The PSL data compiled by the Deaf Reach Foundation was used in this project while students of CS department provided the technical skills.

Computer Science Department organizes Line Following Robotics Competition (LFRC)

Students of Digital Logic Design course participated in a Line following Robotics Competition on 18th January, 2023. The event was held in S-Octa where 111 students divided in 40 teams build robots to complete a path in shortest possible time. The robots were made without the use of programmable devices to enable the students to understand the basic link between sensors and actuators. With the theme of the hackathon being “Generating Solutions to Global Problems through VR/AR Augmentation”, Omnilife students society of the CS department organized a 2- day national event packed with educational talks, VR experiences, workshops, networking opportunities, merch giveaways, mini-games/trivia and much more!
