Professor Tahir Andrabi (Pomona College) and Christina Brown (UC Berkeley) are conducting a study through the Center for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) in partnership with Beaconhouse School Systems to understand motivation in teachers, school heads and other school employees. This study will survey 4,000 employees in the Beaconhouse School System to understand what appraisal systems are preferred by employees and managers. In addition, we will look at the effect of different performance appraisal systems on employee effort.

The research study is funded by DFID and part of CERP’s broader mission to understand the education system in Pakistan. The results of the study will be used to inform the appraisal system at Beaconhouse Schools, impacting 15,000 employees and will contribute to the literature on how best to incentivize and retain great teachers.

Role/Responsibility

  • Participate in a mandatory training session
  • Trim video recordings of daily classroom activity as per prescribed format after necessary editing
