Four years postdoctoral research at National Cancer Institute (NCI); independent investigator for 16 years in Laboratory of Molecular Biology, NCI; published over 70 articles in high quality journals; for 20 years managed research grant portfolio focused on cancer drug discovery and mechanisms of drug action; instrumental in designing grant programs to promote drug discovery and foster academia/corporate/government partnering efforts; served as Scientific Coordinator for National Cooperative Drug Discovery Group program, to promote new drug discovery through participation of multiple scientific disciplines; involved with biodiversity preservation and drug discovery from natural sources; instrumental in initiation and development of International Cooperative Biodiversity Group (ICBG) program, and served on its Technical Advisory group; served on NCI’s patent review committee to advise on patenting issues.
Research interests: Cancer research, biochemistry, pharmacology, metabolism, regulatory mechanisms and pathways, drug discovery.

Dr Mudassar Abbas

Conducted research on synthesis and studies of acid dyes and polyvinylacetate during postgraduate studies before starting his professional carrier from the textile industry; diversified as an academic professional and taught chemistry at various levels; has participated in many educational activities, conferences, and meetings, where he scientifically contributed with his writings and engaged in interdisciplinary work. After completing his PhD, he continued his research as a Post-Doctoral research fellow in the same group.
Research interests: Development of applied materials (ranging from nano- to macromolecules) using olefin metathesis in particular and organometallic chemistry in general.
