After the success of the 4-year BS (Hons) Biotechnology program, followed by the MPhil in Biotechnology, the Department of Biological Sciences took an important step forward by launching a PhD program in Biotechnology in 2013. Admission Criteria:

  • MPhil/MS (with research) from a recognized university in any area related to life sciences with a CGPA equivalent to 70% aggregate as prescribed by HEC criteria or First Division (in the Annual System) in the MPhil/MS.
  • Passing a subject test conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS) or ETS (USA) in the area of specialization chosen at the PhD level or GRE (Biotechnology) organized by NIBGE, Faisalabad.
  • In the case of GAT subject test a minimum of 60% marks are required.
  • In the case of GRE subject test, 60th percentile score is required.

    • A and O Level and American High School Students have to submit a copy of their Equivalence Certificate (Attested and stamped from IBCC)
    • Attested copies of your final transcript of 4 years honors / 2-year Conventional BA / Masters degree
    • An attested copy of your Final transcript of MPhil / MS (with research) Degree
    • FCCU students need to attach the attested copy of their official Baccalaureate and MPhil transcripts
    • An attested copy of your GAT Subject / GRE Subject result
    • 2 recent passport-sized photographs
    • Two copies of your CNIC and of your father / guardian
    • Processing fee of Rs 2,500 must only be deposited in the HBL branch located on the FCCU campus. You must write your name and admission tracking number on the challan form, otherwise your payment will not be processed
    • Research experience if any (please mention the organization, designation and nature of experience)
    • List of publications (if any)
    • Professional / employment record (if any)
    • Personal Statement about your abilities, interests, and your long-term goals in not more than 250 words. Also mention why you are interested in doing PhD Biotechnology
    • Research statement where you would provide a concise write-up about the research theme that you would like to pursue. Include a brief description of your proposed research work plan in not more than 250 words.

Admission to PhD Physics program is made in the research areas which are supported through research projects, and in which faculty research groups are currently engaged. Consent of the prospective PhD dissertation supervisor is mandatory for admission. There are nine HEC approved PhD supervisors in the department. To find out more about the program, click here
