The Department of Mass Communication at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) Lahore has openings for three positions in its faculty to teach in its Baccalaureate Honors (4-year) program.

Two Positions: Mass Communication (Journalism) – (with Mass Communication Major)

  • The candidate should have at least an MPhil in Mass Communication/Journalism/TV/ Advertising/Media Studies or equivalent degree from any HEC recognized University. He/she must have a range of knowledge in Mass Communication, with special emphasis on TV, Radio, Advertising and Research. Publications and prior teaching experience are a plus. Candidates with working experience in media organizations are encouraged to apply. The salary will be commensurate with the degree and experience. A candidate with a foreign Degree or PhD will be given preference. (VERSANT or IELTS required).

One Position: Mass Communication-Speech Communication (with linguistic Major)

  • The candidate should have an MPhil in English Language and Literature, with at least 3 to 5 years experience teaching Communications (IELTS required). A candidate with a PhD or foreign degree will be given preference.

  • Conducting Internal Control evaluation and risk assessment to identify loopholes and areas requiring management intervention to prevent frauds, embezzlements, misappropriations, misuse and wastage and ensuring that objectives of the organization are achieved economically, efficiently and effectively;
  • Preparing an Annual Internal Audit Plan based on risk assessment including tasks, assignments and timelines for completion for each task and main activities, personnel to be employed, and reporting results of audit;
  • Preparing special reports when asked for by the management on various aspects of financial management, including asset management and security, financial reporting, decision support systems, management Information systems;
  • Assisting the finance department in preparation SOPs in critical areas like meeting financial obligations under procurements and the process itself. Specifying internal checks including pre-audit checks, adherence to policies procedures and compliance with rules, laws and regulations to ensure that payments to contractors/consultants/vendors are made by them in accordance with the stipulated guidelines of the organization and donor agencies.
  • Ensuring that systems exist for generation of accurate and reliable financial and other information
  • Designing internal audit procedures and work programs.
  • Reviewing the accuracy, timeliness and relevance of financial information and other disclosures/reports provided to management.
  • Discussing audit findings and recommendations with CFO and reporting significant issues to Rector.
  • Monitoring the timely implementation of the management actions recommended in the audit reports.
  • Providing CFO and the Rector with an opinion on the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of theinternal controls in the organization.

Minimum Qualification:
ACCA (min 5 years experience)/CA Finalist (min 3 years experience). CIA would be an added advantage. The ideal candidate would be one who has prior experience of internal auditpreferably in the service sector.

He/she shall be responsible for administering all financial assistance programs that are available to students of the University. He / she shall work with the Chief Fiscal Officer to make recommendations concerning recipients of students’ financial assistance. He/she shall be responsible for administering the programs in accordance with policies and budget of the College as well as for counseling students and their families regarding planning to meet College and University expenses.

The primary duties of Director Financial Aid shall be as follows:

  • To be thoroughly familiar with all types of student aid available to students, including scholarships, fee concessions, grants-in-aid, and student employment.
  • To administer and coordinate all financial assistance programs available to the College students, including Higher Education Commission (HEC) programs and programs funded by other donors.
  • To inform students of opportunities for their financial assistance and to prepare and distribute materials describing available aid programs.
  • To process financial aid/fee concession applications.
  • To make awards of the funds in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Rector, and where applicable, the donors of the funds, including HEC and department of education (Punjab or Federal).
  • To keep all records necessary for the effective administration of the financial assistance program.
  • To notify students of actions taken on applications for financial assistance.
  • To handle correspondence regarding financial assistance.
  • To develop, review and revise, if necessary, office procedures necessary for efficient financial assistance administration.
  • To prepare reports requested by the CFO or by HEC or appropriate government agencies.
  • To make recommendations concerning policy for the administration of financial assistance to the CFO.
  • To estimate the financial needs of future students and to initiate and prepare recommendations for the College’s scholarship budget, and where appropriate, applications to secure funds adequate to meet these needs.
  • To counsel students on the matter of their financial problems.
  • To educate parents to ways of financing a College or University education for their children.
  • To be responsible for student employment such as making job assignments, subject to the approval of the job supervisor, for positions included in the student work program.
  • To perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the CFO.

This being the first such position created in Pakistan, we will look for expertise in cataloging and develop required metadata skills through on-job training.

This position requires a Masters in Library Science from a prestigious university with experience in Computerized Cataloging using a standard format along with excellent capability of reading and comprehending classic 18th Century Urdu with knowledge of Romanization and English / Urdu Typing skills.

  • Working knowledge of MARC21 or non-MARC metadata schema. Some concept of MODS,
  • METS, or Dublin Core, etc.

Job Responsibilities: CPPG, a policy think tank, is looking for driven and focused Research Assistants (RAs) to perform one or more of the following tasks: conduct literature review, do research on the internet, conduct field surveys in multiple cities, perform coding, data entry and conduct both quantitative & qualitative analysis on the data. The work will involve extensive field work under the guidance of a Research Fellow.

Qualifications & Required Skills: We are looking for students with critical thinking, who can perform and fulfill their tasks independently once guided. 

  • All Social Science majors (BA Honors, MA, MPhil), preferably Political Science
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Good English writing skills
  • Excellent MS Word and internet researching skills
  • Have taken a Research Methods course
